Aspirations Winery, as we know it today, was created by Robin & Bill Linville in October of 2010.
Robin is a graphic artist and Bill is a jack of all trades and was in banking for 7 years prior to owning Aspirations Winery as well as a Navy veteran who served in the Presidential Honor Guard.
One of the things Bill had always dreamed of was owning his own business and this dream was fully supported by his best friend and wife, Robin. After working 2 jobs for the better part of 16 years we set out to find a business that would be a good fit for what we wanted. Leaving no stone unturned, we came across a wine and beer making supplies store and that’s when we learned about drinking “clean” wine. Bill gets back headaches from drinking wine and always thought he was allergic to sulphites. We then learned that aging wine is similar to aging food and that you have to put additives and preservatives in them in order to be aged. So, the longer you need it to last, the more additives and preservatives you have to use. The FDA allows 76 additives to be put in wines and the only one that has to legally be put on the label is sulphites. The problem is, that every wine has some level of sulphites in it, because they are naturally occurring in wine. So, if you have issues with wine, you can’t identify what’s causing them.
Once we drank a clean wine and had no side effects, including no “hangover”, we though, this was what we should do, and offer a clean wine option to our local market. The winery was originally located in Temple Terrace close to USF and we relocated to Clearwater in December of 2011. Today we offer over 35 low sulphite wines including dry reds, dry whites, fruit-infused wines, specialty sangrias and dessert wines. We have a beautiful location that has a wine tasting room, tap room and event space. Stop on in and see why we are one of the tops things to do in Clearwater and why we say, headaches not included.
Bay News 9 stopped in on Veterans Day to talk with a Navy Vet about one of Floridas top rated wineries.
